FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What is pediatric occupational therapy?
Pediatric occupational therapy supports children’s participation in meaningful everyday activities. Depending on individual needs, this may involve play, self-care, fine motor skills, motor planning, sensory experiences, routines, and other aspects of daily life.
What is online occupational therapy?
Online occupational therapy uses secure virtual communication to provide selected consultation, education, and intervention services when appropriate. The services that can be offered depend on the child’s needs and the provider’s professional scope and licensing.
Do parents need to participate?
Parent or caregiver involvement is often important in virtual pediatric services. The level of participation depends on the child’s age, needs, goals, and type of consultation.
Can online OT help with sensory processing?
Online consultations may support caregiver education, observation of everyday routines, and discussion of environmental or activity adaptations. The appropriate approach depends on the child, and an individualized assessment may be necessary.
Do you provide a diagnosis?
Child Wellness OT consultations are not a diagnostic service. If you have questions about a diagnosis, please speak with your child’s pediatrician or another qualified healthcare professional.
